about

Here’s a collection of cover songs I've recorded over the past year.
I’ve been very fortunate to have my very own radio show on Radio Bremen (’Sounds Like Dirk’ on Bremen zwei) for a bit over a year now where I can play anything I want. Excellent fun!
One of the things I like to do is ask my audience for cover song suggestions that I will then record and play in my next show.
I’ve since been sent a bucketful of great song ideas, from Prefab Sprout (check) to KISS (still working on that one).
These tracks were all recorded with my next show in mind but also kind of make up my musical DNA.
Songs and artists that I grew up with, learnt from and cherish to this day.
Here’s a rundown of what’s on ‘Covers Two’ and the artists that originally recorded the songs:

The Beat(en) Generation - The The
Cars And Girls - Prefab Sprout
Easy Come, Easy Go - Grant McLennan (Go-Betweens)
Heavy Heart - Tim Rogers (You Am I)
Dreaming - Blondie
C'mon Everybody - Eddie Cochran
Drive - The Cars
Start Again - Teenage Fanclub
Everyday Is Like Sunday - Morrissey
Liability - Lorde
Paperback Writer - The Beatles
Friday On my Mind - The Easybeats
The Man You Used To Be - Nick Heyward (Haircut 100)
To Live Is To Fly - Townes van Zandt

I’ve written down more thoughts and infos on the specific tracks.
Check out the 25 page digital booklet I slaved over for 3 hours for all that!
I hope you enjoy listening to this little ‘labour of love’ as much as I did recording these great songs.
