Anyone who knows me well enough will tell you that I'm crazy about Prefab Sprout, the band from County Durham, England who rose to fame in the 1980's with a string of magnificent albums including the towering body of song 'Steve McQueen'. Wow.
That album changed, inspired and humbled me all at the same time.

'Cars And Girls' is off 'From Langley Park to Memphis', the bands third album (which followed 'Steve McQueen' in 1988) which went on to become the bands biggest success.
I vividly remember being in London at the time of it's release, seeing double-decker buses with HUGE pictures of the band and this album on their side.
For a short period of time in this specific place, the album's release was definitely the biggest news of the day. At least that's what it felt like to me.
I wonder if pop music has that kind of relevance today,...?
But that's a discussion for another day.
