Gene Clark (formerly of The Byrds) deemed his fourth studio album ‘No Other’ to be his ‘masterpiece’.
No one really got it at the time though and the album was both a commercial and critical failure at the time of it’s release in the summer of 1974.
Signed by David Geffen to Asylum records, the studio time and cost for the album were seen as both excessive and indulgent and with no promotion from the label the album bombed and was even deleted from the labels catalog in 1976.
It was-of course-rediscovered years later and now stands as one of Gene Clark's most important works.
‘Silver Raven’ is my personal favourite off this album, so I decided to have a go at it.
Recorded at my studio in the attic.
