Back in 2005, I was fortunate to be part of a wonderful tour called 'Sit Down And Sing'.
Lloyd Cole, Christian Kjellvander and myself played a total of 21 shows throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland to sell out crowds. It was one of the best touring experiences of my life.
Lloyd and Christian are both amazing artists and true gentlemen who brought down the house every night with their sets. I had to really, really up my game to not look like a total wuss with these pros floating through the evenings proceedings.
I especially remember Christian's version of Townes Van Zandt's classic 'To Live Is To Fly'.
Wow. Perfect version. Perfect song.
I've been a Townes fan thru most of my adult life, so it was only a matter of time until I tried my hand at this song, too.
Recorded in my attic in Hamburg on an unusually cold Sunday afternoon in early November 2017.
